Description:
Gimme The Mike Show open, lower third animations, and other on air elements.

Responsibilites:
My responsibilites on this project were quite intensive. I'm going to divide them into three sections, pre-prodution, production and post production.

Pre-production: Gimme the Mike, a spin-off of American Idol, is a showcase of local talent were on contestant wins the grand prize equaling $18,000. I was given the task of designing and animation the entire show look, excluding the main logo which was designed at ABC. I tasked to come up with a look and feel for the show as well as come up with all the animations and graphics.

I decided to use a current popular look in motion graphics, shiloetting, and put my spin on it for the show. This look would require a large green screen shot to get the elements of dancing people, with a old retro microphone.

Production: I enlisted the help of the marketing director, Mike Hansen, to bring together talent for the shot. He was great at doing so, and came up with some kick butt people. I directed the shoot, involving 2 DVCPRO cameras, and a handheld for closeups. The footage turned out great.

Post-Production:
After all the elements were shot, I took the footage into After Effects were I edited, keyed and processed all the dancing people elements. Once this was done I set about the task of putting everything together and making it flow. I used Trapcode plugins to come up with a moving line that tied one dancing element into the next and the line tied in the final logo sequence as well. I also came up with several ways to tie in the dancing people elements to the lower third animations. I also designed several other graphics including the scoreboard banner and a look for the biography for each contestant. Software used on this project were:
